LEGAL TRANSLATION
Translating legal and administrative texts is also an art unto itself. While it may be possible even for an untrained but sufficiently sophisticated language user to render some legal ideas to some extent in another language, it takes a qualified translator to translate legal documents properly into a foreign language.
It is not only a question of being familiar with the contents of legal concepts but of being familiar with the legal mindsets prevalent in different cultures. Without this knowledge, a translation of a legal document may not only fail to be equally binding as the original source document but the translation may be downright misleading in some respects - which is why it makes good sense to use a trained, qualified translator whenever you have a legal document to translate.
